Michael Santoro is a retired divisional level Financial Director for MWV Corporation (now WestRock). During his 36 year tenure with the company, he served in various positions in operations located in Covington, VA; Richmond, VA; Charleston, SC; Springfield, MA; and Graz, Austria. In his last position before retirement, Mr. Santoro was the Director of Finance and Strategy of MWV's Envelope Products Group. Prior to assuming that position, he served as the Chief Financial Officer of a European Packaging Subsidiary with operations in Austria, Germany, Poland, Czech Republic and Russia.
Mr. Santoro is adept at Budgeting, Forecasting, Planning, and Financial Control. He has demonstrated skills in "Big Picture" understanding of business, capability to integrate various corporate cultures, negotiation and mediation, and understanding the strategic use of IT to meet corporate business goals. He was the winner of two organizational excellence awards and acknowledged as a key business advisor to several General Managers and Managing Directors.
Since his retirement from MWV in 2010, he has been operating as an Independent Consultant. One of his major projects involved assisting his client in the sale of a manufacturing division. In another project he assisted a not-for-profit foundation in a salary benchmarking project.
Mr. Santoro has experience as a volunteer board member of several not-for-profit organizations. He served as a board member and Finance Chair for the Pioneer Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross and was awarded the Clara Barton Award for meritorious volunteer leadership. He is currently a Board Member and Treasurer of the Virginia War Memorial Foundation in Richmond, VA.
Mr. Santoro holds a Bachelor of Science (Civil Engineering) degree from the Virginia Military Institute, an MBA from the Darden School at the University of Virginia and a Master of Science (Information Systems) degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. He served as a Marine Officer for three years following his graduation from VMI.
